Assets for Independence (AFI)

The Assets for Independence (AFI) program is a state-wide homeownership down-payment matched-savings program for income eligible first-time homebuyers.  The AFI program is made possible by the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal.

The match rate is 1 to 4, with a grant value of up to $7,500.  First-time homebuyers open a savings account at Chase Bank and save on a systematic basis between 12 and 24 months.  Participants are not required to obtain a mortgage from Chase Bank.  Monthly savings deposits range from $78.13 to $156.25, depending on the length of the savings term.
